On Friday, March 30, 2012, the Maryland Hosue of Delegates approved legislation to install 40 wind generators off the coast of Ocean City. The legislation would require power companies to purchase up to 2.5% of their power from offshore wind once the generators are installed. Environment Maryland hosted a news conference in Annapolis prior to the vote. Among the speakers, retired U.S. Marine Corps General Anthony Jackson. He views the development of wind energy as a national security issue.
