www.OWIB.dk is an annual network event dedicated towards making contacts and contracts within the offshore wind industry. It's an alternative to traditional conferences and exhibitions, where the right people can often be difficult to find. At OWIB, participants have the opportunity to pre book meetings with participating companies, maximizing efficiency. OWIB is visited by businesses from all levels in the supply chain. Developers, turbine manufactures, engineering companies, construction, installation and service companies etc. Participants are primarily from Europe with some participation expected from other regions as well.
Find out more at http://vindenergi.dtu.dk This video was made prior to the WindEurope 2016 summit in Hamburg September 27-29th 2016. It describes some of the activities at the Department of Wind Energy at DTU, Technical University of Denmark.
Offshore wind energy is rapidly becoming a key player in the European renewables market and recently expanded to U.S. waters. However, a drastic reduction in the cost of offshore wind energy is necessary in order to achieve long-term viability. Two aspects with high potential are operation and maintenance (O&M) optimization and field-data enabled design improvements. Both heavily rely on decision support tools to link turbine operation modes to failure mechanisms. An owner-operator of a wind farm looks for controllability and seeks knowledge about future failure events. Prognosis techniques not only detect failure, but also and more importantly predict failure evolution. This enables reduced power operation modes to allow turbines to remain online while spare parts are on their way. A d...
How far offshore can one build a wind farm? Can turbines be placed in deeper waters? Watch this video to know more about the future of wind energy and also new innovative concepts to harness wind energy at lower costs.
www.windenergyhamburg.com From September 27-30, 2016, Hamburg will again become your gateway to the world of wind energy. The international trade fair, WindEnergy Hamburg, will provide a comprehensive overview of the current status and future prospects of the sector – along the entire value chain of the international wind industry, onshore and offshore. It will take place on the grounds of the Hamburg Messe exhibition center. Scheduled to kick off right after SMM, the world's leading trade fair for the maritime industry, WindEnergy Hamburg offers excellent synergy effects for offshore providers.
The SKF Wind Farm Management Conferences bring together operations and maintenance experts from the wind power industry on a yearly basis. See an impression of the event and some statements of participants from the conference in Amsterdam 2015. SKF gathered experts from the wind power industry for the 10th annual SKF Wind Farm Management Conference. Held in Amsterdam, the conference enabled experts from around the world to share the latest learnings and advice in wind farm management, operation and maintenance. Since the start in 1907, SKF has been making everything from lubrication systems to mechatronics. The SKF products and solutions can be found in almost anything that rolls or moves, from space shuttles to skateboards. In short, SKF is changing the world through the power of knowl...
DTU is one of the few universities in the world to offer a complete two-year MSc programme in wind energy. In recent years, wind energy has become an important source of electricity production. In Denmark, wind energy already constitutes more than 30 per cent of the total energy production, and is expected to increase over the next years. You can choose to specialize in electrical or mechanical engineering within one of the five study lines: Mechanics and Aerodynamics, Mechanics of Materials and Structures, Testing and Measurements, Electrical Wind Turbine Systems, or Electrical Wind Turbine Technology . Find the course on Coursera right here: https://www.coursera.org/learn/wind-energy#faqs By Poul Ejnar Sørensen. First in this lecture we will take a look how to distinguish difference between the four different main types of electrical concepts that we have of modern wind turbines and secondly, how to describe a typical electrical layout of a wind power plant. And finally, we will explain how wind turbines and wind power plants are typically connected to different voltage levels in the grid as well as how we can use DC as an alternative to AC connections.
